A big thank you to everybody involved in the music festival

Thank you to the bands, sponsors, visitors and all who helped on the day and behind the scenes. We raised £2,110.00 which will be split between this year's chosen charities: Shine, Thorney Abbey Roof Fund and Wisbech & District Cancer Support in memory of Jazz. Well done everybody!

The seventeenth Annual Thorney Live Music Festival started in the grounds of the Bedford Hall, Thorney, Peterborough, England, on Sunday 26th August 2011. The line-up included: Irene's Secret, The Platforms, Peterborough Community Gospel Choir, Retrolux, On The Ceiling & Grounded.

Over the last sixteen years we have seen more than 100 bands and artists on stage, each bringing their own unique blend of musical entertainment. We have raised over £40,000 for local and national charities ranging from the local playgroup through to the national Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund.

We have had the support of many local businesses from the Peterborough and north Cambridgeshire area who have sponsored each act that has appeared and look forward to continuing with this successful arrangement.

We are thankful for the support of E & S Frisby & Sons, the Thorney haulage company who have generously supplied the trailers that we use for the stage.

Probably the most influential business that has played they leading role in the success of the festival is the Thorney Ex-servicemen's club who, among other things, fund the publicity material and supplied the bar for the first ten years.

However the person with the most influence over the festival is Andy Stuffins, who had the original idea back in 1996 and has continued, with the support of his family to make the event the leading music festival in the area.

A big thanks also goes to the Bedford Hall committee for the use of the Hall and grounds.

The gates open at 11:30 with the first band on at 12:30 and the entertainment continues through to dusk. Admission is just £6.00 with free entry for the under 16s.

This years chosen beneficiaries are: Shine, Thorney Abbey Roof Fund and Wisbech & District Cancer Support.

Licensed bar • hot food and drink • children's inflatables • stalls.
